To provide flows that have the same look-and-feel throughout and over the STAEDEAN RapidValue solutions, apply these guidelines:

  • Main advice: use the grid lines on the flow designer to position the flow elements!
  • Keep the default lane width. If you change the lane width, and you publish the flow in a Word document, the flows will show in different sizes.
  • Keep two grids at top and bottom of leach lane
  • Keep two grids between lane ‘heading’ and start event
  • Horizontally, keep three grids between objects (1). Also keep the horizontal three-grid space if the elements aren’t on the same level (2).
  • In case of a lane change, use four grids.
  • Vertically, keep 2 grids between objects, also if the objects aren’t directly below each other.
  • Keep connectors separated (not combined) as much as possible, so each connector is fully visible (often this means that connectors depart from or arrive at gateways from the top or bottom, if there are several connectors)

  • Drag connector text as close as possible to the gateway where it comes from, but place it above or below the connector. If the connector has a corner, place the text above or below the corner, like in the example.
Make gateway texts a reasonable width.
