Simplified Technical English is an officially approved international specification to write documentation in a controlled language. The ASD-STE100 specification is mainly used in the aerospace and defense industries. It can, of course, also be applied to the software industries. However, in several cases, it is too strict for software documentation.
You can use these STE-related documents for reference purposes:
- "Verbs-it": a list of approved verbs and non-approved verbs, modified for the IT.
- “ASD-STE100 - ISSUE 5”: a full description of the ASD-STE100 specification. On the pages 44-94, you can find the rules explained. The dictionary starts on page 103.
Warning: the "Verbs-it" and "ASD-STE100 - ISSUE 5" references are strictly for internal STAEDEAN use only!
